Union tackles sea blindness with Merchant Navy Day Instagram launch
3 September 2020
Press release
Nautilus International is raising awareness of merchant seafarers by raising a virtual Red Duster on its newly launched Instagram account, to coincide with Merchant Navy Day on 3 September 2020.
The new account will assist members in telling their stories as part of ongoing work to combat 'sea blindness'.
The account will feature a carefully curated collection of striking imagery, including entries to the Union’s photography competitions, and aims to shine a new light on life at sea and in the maritime industry more widely.
By utilising the 'Story' feature of Instagram, the Union will be able to give followers a behind-the-scenes look at events, as well as up-to-date news.
Members and supporters are encouraged to follow the account at @NautilusInt, and to share photos and videos for inclusion on the platform by using the hashtag #NautilusInternational.
The new account will complement the Union's existing presence on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, enabling it to reach as wide an audience as possible online.
