Virtual Christmas Maritime Quiz brings cheer for second year in support of seafarer welfare

2 November 2021

The Seafarers' Charity is hosting a special Christmas Maritime Quiz to continue its successful online fundraising efforts for supporting seafarer welfare during the pandemic.

Following the success of the first two Maritime Quiz evenings earlier this year, this special Christmas online event – being held Thursday 2 December 2021 from 18:00 - 19:15hrs – will be co-hosted by former Minister for Maritime Nus Ghani MP, also a charity trustee; and Julian Clark, senior partner at international legal and professional services firm INCE.

The charity is urging anyone who wants to take part to 'get a team together, grab a mince pie, a festive drink and join us for an evening of light-hearted fun in support of seafarers in need and their families'.

Tickets are £10 per person, and prizes will include:

  • dinner for two at the prestigious Hutong restaurant on the 33rd floor of The Shard
  • case of 6 bottles of champagne
  • bottle of House of Commons Whisky, signed by the Speaker

If your maritime knowledge isn't top notch, don’t worry – there is still a chance to win. As part of your registration, you will be entered into a prize draw so there is an opportunity to be randomly selected for a prize on the night.

  • Register a team or take part individually. This time, you will be able to submit your answers using an online form so there will be a live leader board to follow on the night.

The Seafarers' Charity is the main charitable funding body for the UK maritime sector, awarding grants to welfare projects and seafarer support organisations. During the pandemic, the charity has been supporting seafarers affected by Covid-19 through partnerships with the Seafarers Advice & Information Line (SAIL) and SeafarerHelp, the helpline of the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN).
