Royal dedication for RFA Proteus multi role ocean surveillance ship

8 November 2023

Over 100 guests took part in a Service of Dedication for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary's (RFA) newest vessel, Proteus, alongside HMS Belfast in London on Tuesday 10 October 2023.

The multi role ocean surveillance ship (MROSS) will serve as a launchpad for remotely operated vehicles and is home to a suite of specialist capabilities similar to those found in the oil and gas industries.

Proteus was formally dedicated at a ceremony in the heart of the nation’s capital in the presence of RFA Commodore-in Chief, Prince Edward, The Duke of Edinburgh, and Akshata Murty, wife of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who will be Proteus' sponsor throughout the ship's active life.
