Our professional yacht services

Superyacht crew can be vulnerable to issues like non-payment of wages, issues with repatriation, termination, bullying, harassment and even criminalisation.

How we can help

Nautilus International is here to give you the support you’ll need throughout your career as a yacht professional.

The Union provides representation to all ranks and nationalities, including deck, engine, and interior crew. Whatever your nationality, country of residence or role, you can benefit from the services of our team of industry experts.

Working aboard a superyacht is sometimes perceived as glamorous, but it can also be precarious. It pays to have someone on your side. When you join Nautilus International, you not only become part of a community of experienced maritime professionals; you can also feel confident knowing that advice and assistance is just a phone call away.

Wherever you are, so are we.

Representation

Members are entitled to a range of legal services free of charge. Specialist lawyers around the globe are ready to assist you with a whole range of issues, so you’ll always have support where you need it most.

The superyacht sector is both complex and international. Our team can help you to understand your rights, and assist with contractual and jurisdictional issues on both commercially operated and privately operated yachts through our worldwide network of lawyers.

Nautilus International officials can also provide expert advice on work-related problems such as redundancy, bullying, discrimination, non-payment of wages, pensions and Seafarers’ Employment Agreements (contracts).

Recovery of unpaid wages

Nautilus successfully helps our members recover unpaid wages, accrued leave and repatriation costs and can assist on matters such as termination, abandonment and fair treatment. If legal assistance is required the member is also awarded 100% of any compensation recovered.

In 2020 alone Nautilus recovered 720,000 euros in unpaid wages for our members that work on yachts.

Emergency help, 24/7

Nautilus operates a 24/7 helpline so members can call us anytime from anywhere in the world for support.

We offer certificate protection to members for loss of income if their Certificate of Competency is cancelled, suspended or downgraded following a formal enquiry. Members should contact the union immediately for advice and support before being interviewed by the police or other investigation authorities.

Sea Service Verification

Keeping vital documentation like Sea Service Verification up to date can be time-consuming. Our members benefit from an industry-leading service that makes the process quicker and easier. We are one of only two providers authorised to verify sea time on behalf of the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA), with a standard turnaround times of less than 14 days.

Nautilus has also developed an industry leading Nautilus Sea Service Record (Nautilus SSR), available free of charge to members, which speeds up the verification process at the MCA.

A voice for members

As well as providing support with individual issues, Nautilus members are also part of a union with tens of thousands of members working in every part of the maritime industry. By organising together, the Union can put pressure on governments and international organisations to deliver change.

We provide input at the International Labour Organisation's Maritime Labour Convention meetings, the International Maritime Organisation and other global maritime bodies to ensure our members' voices are heard.

Don't go to sea without Nautilus on your side.
