Nautilus Welfare Fund
Nautilus has been protecting the interests of seafarers for 160 years in the UK and a priority is to support the increasing numbers of retired mariners – in particular those over 75 years old.
The Union has specialist support services for the wider community of retired and needy seafarers and their dependants run by the Nautilus Welfare Fund charity.
The Nautilus Welfare Fund is not just for Union members: all retired seafarers who can demonstrate a significant career in the maritime industry are eligible to apply.
Many wish to join the lively community of residents who live in a range of state-of-the-art retirement accommodation at the Nautilus Mariners' Park Estate on the banks of the River Mersey, facing the Liverpool waterfront. Retired seafarers and their dependants throughout the UK can also access the Fund’s exceptional grants and support services.

Nautilus International traces its history back more than 160 years to 1857, when the Mercantile Marine Service Association was founded in the UK in response to the provisions of the 1850 Merchant Shipping Act.
