Titanic connections: the other ships on the scene

The Titanic Fleet: the ships involved in the Titanic disaster By Richard M. Jones

James Bancroft delved into the stories of the Titanic’s lifeboats, but in The Titanic Fleet, Richard Jones has explored another aspect of the sinking – the stories of 30 other vessels that were connected in some way to the famous liner. Titanic Fleet cover.png

Those who are very familiar with the events of that fateful night may be acquainted with the Titanic’s sister ships, or vessels that were first on the scene like the Carpathia (itself sunk in 1918, by a German torpedo). However, even seasoned Titanic readers will surely find something new in the details provided on less well-known ships such as the Lapland (which returned survivors to the UK) or the New York, which nearly collided with the Titanic as the vessel left Southampton.
