Our fleet consists of 7 pusher tugs and approximately 100 barges.
We transport 60,000 to 80,000 tonnes of ore and coal per day, from Rotterdam, Antwerp and Amsterdam to the blast furnaces of thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG in Duisburg 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Are you up to the challenge?
Would you like to come along and take a look onboard one of our vessels? Or maybe apply straight away?
Then please do get in touch with our HRM department: +31(0)181-419265 or send an email to personnel.vh@thyssenkrupp.com.
VEERHAVEN
We’d like to strengthen our pusher fleet team and are therefore looking for engineers to join us with immediate effect.
(WHO ARE DEFINITELY NOT AFRAID OF A LITTLE POWER)
What will you be doing?
As an engineer you’ll ensure our pusher boat/barge combinations can undisturbedly move forward as you’ll:
- ensure the 3 main engines (total power > 4 mW) will be able to run continuously
- maintain and operate all other installations, including pumps, gearboxes, generators, separators, compressors and so on
- know how to operate, service and troubleshoot the installations
- appropriately intervene when you notice faults or deviations
- not shy away from working Marad and keeping a correct administration
You’ll also be on stand-by during specific manoeuvres, like stays in ports and/or when connecting and disconnecting the push barges, making sure any installation breakdowns can effectively be repaired. Plus you’ll also be responsible for keeping the engine room clean, well-organised and tidy.
So what are we looking for?
You’ll have a positive attitude and enjoy being part of a team. In addition, you will also have:
- Completed a course at Marof level, preferably in the field of Marine Engineering, or a completed Marine Engineer A course
- A service record book with a ‘machinist’ endorsement
- Demonstrable, multiple years of experience as an engineer in a similar environment
- A willingness to complete additional education/courses
- A good oral command of the English language and preferably of the Dutch and/or German language
- Driving License B
What will we be offering you?
You’ll be working on one of our pusher tugs which make their way from Rotterdam to Duisburg and vice versa 24/7, 365 days a year. We have our own CLA. You’ll be working a 14-day on/14-day off rota. We’ll also be able to offer you:
- A competitive salary
- Development opportunities with professional guidance
- Programmes which will benefit your sustainable employability.
- Workwear and PPE
- The possibility to take a three weeks holiday
