Shape your union's future - stand for the Nautilus Council

14 July 2025

Are you passionate about helping your fellow seafarers?

Are you concerned about the challenges ahead for today’s maritime professionals?

Do you have ideas about how to help your union and your colleagues meet those challenges?

The Nautilus Council could benefit from your input. You don't need any special expertise, just an interest in helping and the capacity to bring your own experiences to the role. Your union needs a diversity of Council members from across all sectors of the maritime profession to be truly representative.

The Council is composed of 26 seafarers and maritime professionals, plus your general secretary. As a full member of Nautilus International, you can stand for election and help shape the future of maritime professional representation across the UK, Netherlands, and Switzerland.

You'll serve for five years and make crucial decisions affecting thousands of maritime professionals. You will have the opportunity to influence union policy and strategy, represent your fellow members, shape industry standards and working conditions, build valuable leadership experience, and make a lasting impact on your profession.
