Nautilus secures pay deal at Orkney Ferries

24 September 2025

Nautilus International members working at Orkney Ferries have voted to accept a pay offer from the company after executives agreed an improved offer with the Union’s negotiating team.

Nautilus strategic organiser Grant Mudie said: 'After an extended period of negotiation, I'm delighted that our members have accepted a pay deal that is more closely aligned with their aspirations.

'Nautilus International enjoys a strong relationship with Orkney Ferries and through cooperation and negotiation we were able to secure a deal that better reflects the fantastic work our members do.'

The deal includes a 5% pay rise for 2025/2026 plus a non-consolidated one-off payment of £600 for all sea staff (pro rata for new staff and leavers). There will also be a 3.5% pay rise for 2026/2027 (or the January 2026 RPI rate if higher),

The company has also committed to a full and transparent benchmarking review of all post pay grades and terms and conditions of employment within the next 12 months.

'I wish to thank members for their engagement and candour throughout the process, particularly Liaison Officer Sinclair Pirie whose insight and participation has been vital to this outcome,' Mr Mudie added.
