Nautilus takes silver for global advocacy supporting maritime professionals

10 November 2025

Nautilus International has been recognised for its work supporting maritime professionals worldwide.

The union was recognised for its comprehensive advocacy work spanning safety improvements, employment rights, and policy influence at international forums including the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and International Labour Organization (ILO).

Recent achievements include successfully lobbying for seafarer protections in the UK government’s Employment Rights Bill, recovering over £2.17 million in unpaid wages for superyacht sector members in 2024, and securing above-inflation pay deals for members.

General Secretary Mark Dickinson said the accolade reflects Nautilus’s commitment to championing the rights and welfare of its members across all sectors, including those from containers, tankers, ferries, superyachts, offshore energy and port services.

‘From influencing policy at the IMO and ILO to winning crucial industrial disputes, we remain committed to championing fair working conditions, safety, and employment rights for our members worldwide.’

The union took home silver in the Best International Association category at the 2025 AEA Awards.
