Fruitful discussion between Nautilus and CalMac at 17th JCC meeting

Nautilus International met with representatives from Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) in Gourock on 17 April 2025 for the 17th Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) meeting.

At this meeting the Union and management discussed a range of issues including:

  • Vacancies
  • Fixed termed and permanent contracts
  • Callback payments
  • The CalMac pension

Also under discussion was a Nautilus proposal that seafarers required to hold a certificate of competency on the small ferries fleet should be covered by the Nautilus officers collective bargaining agreement.

In addition, CalMac confirmed that the new role profile and job title of passenger services manager has been implemented, and the company will review the promotion board process.

The next JCC meeting will be held at the company offices in Gourock on 11 September 2025.
