The radio society at Mariners' Park recently requested a new radio station call sign from the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB). The call sign requested was GB2MPR (MPR = Mariners' Park Radio).
This request was rejected on the grounds that the radio station was not open to the general public. I consider their decision to be unreasonable. Our radio society members are the public, whether we live at Mariners' Park or come in from the local area.
I respectfully request any members of the RSGB or other supporters reading this to email/write to the RSGB to allow us to have this radio call sign which uniquely represents Mariners' Park Radio.
RSGB contact information can be found on their website.
