All the fun of a Cunard classic
Queen Elizabeth 2: Ship of Legend, by William H. Miller
Released on the 50th anniversary of the Queen Elizabeth 2's maiden voyage, this latest volume by cruise history supremo William Miller tells the story of Cunard's most successful superliner.
The book takes us through the history of Cunard as a company, including the stories of the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth, the two liners that came before the QE2. The QE2 itself has a lively history encompassing world cruises, terrorist threats, mechanical breakdowns and the ship's appearance in British soap opera Coronation Street.
Cunard's slogan, 'Getting there is half the fun,' is very much shown throughout the book, from the colour images from the 60s and 70s showcasing the luxury suites and leisurely lives of passengers onboard to the nostalgic stories from former crew members.
Miller has written a highly engaging text with a seamless blend of high-quality images of the QE2, passengers, crew, old ship schedules and promotional leaflets. A book made for ship enthusiasts and those with an interest in British history.
