Maritime Piracy Humanitarian Response Programme

INTRODUCTION

Maritime Piracy Humanitarian Response Programme

Nautilus members and their families affected by the physical and mental trauma from attacks or fear of attacks on shipping can get help from an international service - the Maritime Piracy Humanitarian Response Programme (MPHRP).

REASON FOR PROGRAMME
MPHRP was developed in response to the increased violence, intimidation, and torture suffered by seafarers. Its objective is to provide a good practice guide for shipping companies, manning agencies, and welfare associations. Seafarers and their families will be helped with the humanitarian aspects of trauma caused by either a piracy attack, armed robbery, or being taken hostage.

HOW YOU CAN GET HELP
MHRP offers a 24 hour helpline for seafarers and their families and support in three key phases – pre-departure, crisis and post incident. Seafarers and their families have access to trained first responders and professional aftercare through a global network of multi-disciplined experts.
