We're giving UK seafarers an opportunity to build their ‘pension power’.

With more than 150 years of experience in looking after the needs of maritime professionals, we've launched the Nautilus Pensions Association (NPA), both a pressure group and a support body for those concerned about their pensions.

The Nautilus Pensions Association (NPA):

  • provides a new focal point for seafarer pensioners - increasing their influence within, and knowledge of the Merchant Navy Officers’ Pension Fund and other schemes within the industry
  • serves as a channel for professional advice on all kinds of pensions, as well as offering specific information on legal and government developments on pensions, and supporting Nautilus in lobbying the government as required
  • provides a ‘one-stop shop’ for advice on other organisations providing support and assistance to pensioners
  • offers a range of specialised services and benefits tailored to meet the needs of retired members
  • operates as a democratic organisation

The NPA is supervised by a committee of nine individuals - four elected by the NPA membership and four nominated by the general secretary, plus the general secretary. The NPA committee meets at least once a year and is able to submit motions to Nautilus International Council - potentially shaping the stance adopted at the MNOPF and MNOPP by the Union’s officer directors.

The NPA builds on the existing highly popular Nautilus pension forums, which continues to hold at least four meetings around the UK each year, also open to all NPA members.

NPA membership is open to all UK Merchant Navy seafarers - past and present and costs just £3.60 per month. Whether you are an active, deferred member or pensioner of the MNOPF, an active or deferred MNOPP member, or even an active or non-active member of another pension scheme (either personal pension plans or employer-provided), the NPA is there for you. Visit our Downloads section for an application form.

Existing affiliate (retired) members of Nautilus International are automatically enrolled in the NPA free of charge. Other Nautilus members can opt in to join the NPA at no charge by contacting Head Office.
