From our new general secretary
Welcome to the new Union – Nautilus International – and its new website.
I am proud to have been elected the first general secretary of the Union. The
change of leadership does not change our strategic priorities or focus. I want
to ensure stability and the continuation of our professional approach.
I want to take this opportunity to emphasise that the new Union has clear
objectives agreed by Council. The Strategic Plan and those of the UK and
Netherlands Branches are consistent with previous Strategic Plans and represent
continuity as we move forward.
My immediate priorities were set out in my election address that was
circulated to full members during the nomination process:
- Delivering the Union’s strategic objectives through strong, professional and
articulate leadership
- Expanding services to members
- Improving communications with members/exploiting new information
opportunities
- Increasing membership involvement and participation, including enhancement
of the role of lay representatives
- Growing Nautilus and embedding the new structures to ensure the success of a
‘one union’ culture and a strong team ethos
- Strengthening the Union through recruitment and enhanced organising capacity
I remain committed to delivering ongoing improvements and enhanced services
and benefits to our members building on the solid foundations of Nautilus UK and
Nautilus NL. I look forward to working with you and thank you in advance for
your contribution and cooperation towards these goals.
